Case Studies
BMW. BMW, Munich use a Vicon system to study ingress-egress of concept vehicle layout using Vicon iQ, Bodybuilder and Ramsis, before they enter the detailed design phase . These detailed studies enable the scientists to consider more different situations and configurations than they were able to without the system.
Pratt & Witney. Pratt & Witney use their Vicon system to analyze many designs for serviceability and maintainability before building expensive physical prototypes that take longer to develop and modify than the digital models.
John Deere. John Deere use their Vicon system to assess new designs and train their service engineers on new products as well as get their feedback during the design phase.
Airbus. Airbus, Hamburg use their Vicon system for 3 core applications. The first is to enable full body interaction within virtual environments in real-time and assess biomechanical constraints of different layouts with the flight deck and cabin. Secondly it is used to create animations to show engineers how to assemble and build the new aircraft designs as every one they build is unique to the customers specification. Finally it is used to do detailed ergonomic studies for customers and service engineers. One study looked at the feasibility of crawl spaces for engineers to service the sewage system and holding tanks in the fuselage of the A380.
