APPLICATIONS AND TOOLS SOFTWARE ENGINEER

OMG Plc is a leading technology company working in motion capture, camera tracking and a variety of video analysis applications. The OMG subsidiary companies Vicon and 2d3 sell products into a variety of markets including medical, visual effects, design, VR and sports science. In recent years Vicon and 2d3 products have been used in almost every major feature film and many games and TV commercials.  The company has offices in Oxford, Denver and Los Angeles.

 

A Software Engineer is sought to work as an office-based employee within our Oxford development team.

The role will require successful delivery within two key areas of responsibility:

  • Development of high performance software products
  • Shared responsibility for the development of test and productivity tools

The latter part of the role will include the development of build and continuous integrations systems, automated test frameworks, and systems for managing bug tracking and test effort.

Candidates should be graduates in Software Engineering, Mathematics or a Science (1st or 2:1) from a first rank University.

 

Experience in the following is essential:

  • C++ and python development within a commercial environment
  • System-level software engineering, including issues of multi-threading and parallel processing, portability and networking
  • Designing large, complex and high performance software products and user interfaces

The following experience would also be advantageous:

  • STL, Boost, Open GL, Qt
  • Software quality processes
  • Knowledge of software build systems, continuous integration, source control systems
  • Good understanding of development processes and testing productivity tools

Desirable Attributes:

  • Good communication skills
  • Responsible and self-directed on short and medium-term goals
