SOFTWARE TEST ENGINEER

OMG Plc is a leading technology company working in motion capture, camera tracking and a variety of video analysis applications. The OMG subsidiary companies Vicon and 2d3 sell products into a variety of markets including medical, visual effects, design, VR and sports science. In recent years Vicon and 2d3 products have been used in almost every major feature film and many games and TV commercials.  The company has offices in Oxford, Denver and Los Angeles.

 

Vicon is expanding its use of automated testing and has openings for 2 Software Test Engineers to work within a market-specific Software Development Team to provide support and assist in the creation of new features, improvement of existing features and bug fixing.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To develop software test plans in conjunction with the development project team including the QA Manager
  • Critically advise on application GUI and workflow design in conjunction with the development team and Product Manager
  • Develop workflow tests representing important usage patterns in the software under development
  • Develop and organise automated testing scripts for front-end and lower-level application testing
  • Creating and running scripts , working alongside the Test and Productivity Tools Developer
  • Perform manual testing of software features under development, and the application generally
  • Design and run performance and system tests
  • Evaluate and monitor (with the project team ) the level of testing coverage of software under development (of all kinds, including developer-written), and help prioritise testing effort through analysis of risk of defects
  • Work with the QA Manager and the project team to develop and apply release sign-off criteria
  • Investigate and advise on relevant customer issues and feed these into the development process
  • Coordinate the involvement of support and test engineers in giving feedback on new features under development
  • Assist in management of software Beta release program
  • Become expert in the software developed by the project team
  • Become expert in the use of Vicon motion capture systems specialising in your market sector, with the ability to technically advise on the design of new features and workflows to best suit our customers requirements

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to understand and develop effective testing scripts (specifically in python) is highly desirable
  • Well organised
  • Ability to prioritise testing effort effectively through understanding of risk
  • Familiarity with automation methods in software testing
  • Good scripting skills
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Experienced user of MS Office (Word & Excel)
  • Effective communication skills within the context of a fast-paced development team
  • Ability to develop and demonstrate leadership within the context of test planning
