KILLZONE 2 CAPTURED AT AUDIOMOTION STUDIOS
Oxford based studio records all of the animations for the highly acclaimed game.
Oxford, UK (3 March 2009) -- Multi-award winning motion capture experts, Audiomotion Studios has today announced the key role it played in the making of Killzone 2. With its suite of 130 Vicon MX40+ cameras, Audiomotion delivered all of the performance capture for the cut scenes and over 5000 in-game animations for the title, which was released on 27th February 2009.
Created by Guerrilla Games, Killzone 2 is a PlayStation3 exclusive, published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE). It is the most anticipated first-person shooter of the year, and has been met with universal critical acclaim. Following the huge success of Killzone and Killzone: Liberation, the story continues the events of Liberation as the Interplanetary Strategic Alliance aims to capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Scolar Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt.
Audiomotion’s motion capture expertise was called upon by the game’s developer, Guerrilla Games, to spend over 40 days working on the games animations. The studios innovative full performance capture system was used to record simultaneous face and bodies of stars including Bourne Identity actor Brian Cox and renowned TV actor Sean Pertwee for the roles of Visari and Radec.
Geert Donker, producer at Guerrilla Games said: “Throughout the production of Killzone 2, Audiomotion proved once again to be a reliable and flexible partner. They have shown a formidable willingness to facilitate our needs, and their great team of artists ensured animation of impeccable quality.
“While Killzone 2 is pushing every limit on the Playstation 3, Audiomotion had no difficulties meeting our requirements. Supporting us creatively and technically, they went above and beyond the call of duty. Audiomotion are a joy to work with.”
Mick Morris Managing Director at Audiomotion Studios said: “We are delighted to share in the wonderful success of Killzone 2 with our friends at Guerilla. The team and the game they have delivered are absolutely deserving of the high praise they are receiving. It’s an amazing achievement and we look forward to more groundbreaking collaboration with them in the years to come.”
