AIRPORT INFORMATION

Airport Information

O’Hare International Airport (ORD), which is 13 miles from downtown Chicago, handles more passengers than any other airport in the world. Airport information booths are located on the lower levels of the domestic terminals and on the upper and lower levels of the International Terminal. A foreign currency exchange is located on the lower level of the International Terminal. Taking a taxi to/from the airport varies depending on travel time from $30-$50 from O’Hare. For more information on ground transportation, please visit the following site: http://www.flychicago.com/GroundTransportation/home.shtm

Midway International Airport (MDW) is conveniently located 10 miles from downtown Chicago.  Midway’s one terminal building has three concourses – A, B and C. Airport information booths are located in the ticketing lobby, baggage claim and the concessions food court. The airport is served by the CTA Orange Line train which is a 25-minute trip from downtown. Taking a taxi between Midway and downtown is approximately $28-$32. For more information on ground transportation, please visit the following site: http://www.flychicago.com/GroundTransportation/home.shtm

GROUND TRANSPORTATION FROM AIRPORTS TO THE HOTEL ALLEGRO

Cabs

Cabs are plentiful outside the baggage claim areas at both airports.

Cabs from O’Hare usually run @ $38 - $40 with a travel time of @ 30 - 45 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions.

Cabs from Midway usually run @ $28 - $30 with a travel time of @ 25 – 35 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions.

Shuttle: (Continental Airport Express www.airportexpress.com)

The Continental Airport Express has blue vans that collect visitors every

5 – 15 minutes from the areas outside the baggage claim.  The cost is $25 one way from O’Hare and $20 one way from Midway.  The rate is reduced slightly if more people are in the same party, heading to the same hotel, or if round trip tickets are purchased from the driver.  However, the travel time cannot be estimated because it depends on the number of passengers and the number of hotels at which the driver must stop.

Train

Both airports are accessible by the Chicago Transit System (CTA).

The Blue Line train ends at O’Hare under Terminal 2, and returns to the downtown area frequently.  This is a 24hr train.  The cost is $2.00 one way and travel time is estimated at 60 minutes during off-peak hours. Exit the train at the Clark/Lake subway stop and ascend to the street level.  Turn left and walk ½ block to LaSalle.  Turn left and walk 1 block to Randolph.  Turn right and the Hotel Allegro is on your left.

The Orange Line ends @ a 7 minute walk from the baggage claim area at Midway.  The cost is $2.00 one way and travel time is estimated at @ 30 minutes during off-peak hours.  Exit the train at the elevated Washington/Wells platform.  Descend to street level and walk 1 block facing the traffic up Wells to corner of Wells and Randolph.  Turn right and Hotel Allegro is on your right.
