Vicon T160 Camera

Vicon is proud to introduce its latest innovation, the T160.  With four times the resolution of any motion capture camera available the T160 is like no other.  Welcome to the resolution revolution.

16 MEGAPIXELS
The T160 boasts a resolution of 16 megapixels, captures 10-bit grayscale using 4704 X 3456 pixels and can capture speeds of up to 2,000 frames per second. This resolution means you can now accurately track the finest detail, the subtlest movements in even the largest volumes.

120 FPS FULL FRAME
Capable of capturing 120 frames per second at full frame resolution (16 Megapixels), the T160 delivers a significant performance increase over the previous MX cameras. Even at 240 fps, its resolution is 4704 X 1728 or a whopping 8 megapixels.

ELECTRONIC FREEZE FRAME SHUTTER
The T160 contains the custom-designed Vicon Avalon sensor which provides a full frame “true” shutter. Shuttered cameras are tolerant of on-set or laboratory ambient light so increase your system accuracy. But not all shuttered cameras are the same – rolling shutters routinely found on other CMOS sensors cannot be used for motion capture. To ensure you get the best quality data, the T160 offers a true electronic freeze frame shutter.

VICON AVALON SENSOR
Building on the success of the Vicon Vegas sensor, years of development went into the design of the Avalon sensor, the world’s first 16 megapixel motion capture sensor. 16 megapixels at 120 frames per second cannot be achieved using off-the-shelf sensors.

DARK CURRENT MANAGEMENT
Dark Current is present in all optical capture systems creating noisy 3D data. When pushing sensor technology to the limit with speed and resolution, Dark Current Management is an important consideration. T-Series has been engineered to significantly reduce the effect of dark current on the sensor image.

VICON LENS
Along with the Avalon and Vegas sensors, the Vicon lens has been custom-built for motion capture. The Vicon lens has a large image circle to ensure that the entire image is evenly illuminated, not just the center. Off-the-shelf C-Mount lenses are designed to work with low resolution cameras and cannot be used with such high resolution cameras because of their limited resolving power; this is especially true with small markers. To achieve this, the Vicon lens was designed and built with a high resolving power.
