   a. What is BodyBuilder

   b. How does BodyBuilder fit into my data processing workflow?

   c. Introduction to the BodyBuilder User Interface

   d. Introduction to BodyLanguage

   e. Files required to run a BodyLanguage script

2.Considerations before beginning your model: Planning your Model

   a. What is a Model?

Session 2 – .MKR Files, Static Trials and .MP Files

WHEN

November 8, 2011 – 10:00am Mountain Standard Time

WHAT

Learn to create the .MKR file needed to define the markers used in your BodyBuilder model. Next, learn how to create calculations that are only performed on the static trial of your subject (aka T-Pose Trial.) Finally, we will cover how to make the .MP file needed to define the contestant parameters called on by the model file in your BodyBuilder code.

OBJECTIVES

1. How to create a .MKR file

2. Non-Assigning Statements

3. Using a Static Trial

   a. Why use at Static Trial

   b. How to designate a Static Trial

   c. The IF Condition - Designating code as Static Trial only

   d. PARAM - Exporting Parameters from the Static Trial to the .MP file

4. Creating a .MP File

   a. Generic vs. Subject Specific .MP files

   b. Syntax

Session 3 – Introduction to Kinematic Modeling

WHEN

November 15, 2011– 10:00am Mountain Standard Time

WHAT

In this session we introduce the fundamental concept in BodyBuilder; how to create segments ( i.e. Rigid Bodies) from your subject markers.

OBJECTIVES

1. Kinematic Analysis

   a. Introduction to Vector Algebra and Rigid Body Mechanics

   b. An example Pelvis Segment

2. BodyLanguage Basics

  a. Basic Syntax

  b. Introduction to Segment Definition

Session 4 – Managing Axes, and Introduction to Macros

WHEN

November 29, 2011 – 10:00am Mountain Standard Time

WHAT

Learn how to visualize the local coordinate axes created in the last session in order to confirm the axes have the intended directions. Next, we will cover the concept of macros. Macros are a powerful way to repeat a section of code many times in your model while saving time and decreasing the chances of errors.

OBJECTIVES

1. How to visualize the axes of a segment in the 3D workspace

   a. Virtual Point Review

   b. How to add appropriate code to the .MOD and .MKR files

2. Axes from a Local to Global coordinate systems

   a. Why switch from Local to Global and vice versa?

3. Macros

   a. What is a Macro?

   b. How to create and use a Macro

Session 5 – Advanced Segments, and 3D Angles

WHEN

December 6, 2011 – 10:00am Mountain Standard Time

WHAT

Now that we know the basics of how to set up a segment in BodyBuilder, we will learn some advanced tools that can be used to control the position and orientation of the segment. Finally, we will learn how to take 3D angles between our various segments.

OBJECTIVES

1. Advanced Segment Definition

   a. Point Functions

   b. Dead band

   c. Anti-flip lines

   d. Linking segments
