Role Overview

The Product role at Vicon is an interdisciplinary role, liaising between our engineering teams (Hardware and Software development, QA, and Program) and commercial teams (Sales, Customer Support, and Marketing). The Vicon Product Team is responsible for constantly updating market needs, and defining features and functions of products with the objective of maximizing sales revenues, market share, and profit margins whilst delivering market-leading products.

The Vicon Product Team is responsible for aligning user needs with company strategies and translating these business objectives into achievable engineering requirements for new opportunities and product range growth. The Head of Product reports to the CEO and leads the Product team which includes Technical Authoring and is responsible for team management and working closely with the C-level team to ensure that short, medium- and longer-term product strategies are delivered.

The Head of Product also suggests future product strategies to this group. The Head of Product defines departmental processes and procedures with the goal of improving successful product delivery, effective interdepartmental communications, and providing consistent department methodology.

The role also acts as the main liaison with other department heads, to effectively communicate the team’s progress and to ensure the department is meeting the needs of other groups within the company including Marketing support relating to Product releases, conferences, webinars, etc.


  • Effectively manage, motivate, and develop the global Product Team including Technical Author/s
  • Adopt a continuous improvement approach by questioning and amending processes and procedures where necessary
  • Give direction and leadership toward the achievement of product goals and objectives
  • Liaise with different departments to ensure the Product department is properly supporting the needs of the operating business
  • Regularly communicate and review the progress of the Product team with the C-level team
  • Create and review product visions including financial analyses for new market and product opportunities
  • Maintain oversight of competitor activities
  • Propose new product visions to the C-level team
  • Provides oversight between all the market business cases, to achieve a unified product priority list that best aligns with company strategy and maximized return on investment
  • Create, maintain, and present product roadmaps
  • Works closely with the Program Team to optimize the use of available resources to help achieve on-time delivery of the product roadmap
  • Assist the Marketing team in the development of customer communications, marketing campaigns, exhibition organization, and product marketing assets.


  • At least 5 years of product experience in a related technology or software field
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in an international environment and across multiple sites
  • Experience working with both engineering teams and senior stakeholders
  • Strong people and motivational skills
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and coordinating skills
  • Engineering or technical background
  • Product Management Certification
