Move. Track. Learn.
Vicon’s app for biomechanical insights in the field – find out more and download the latest version here.
Working seamlessly with Vicon’s Blue Trident sensors, Capture.U offers real-time data overlaid on video, allowing you to make informed decisions right where you need it – on the pitch, trackside, poolside, courtside or in the lab.
Capture.U allows biomechanists, researchers, coaches and sports teams to analyze subject or athlete movement by assessing live information. The app provides easy access to biomechanical insights from your Blue Trident sensor.
You can collect and analyze data in the field using the app’s capture modes, offering a variety of different ways to record and measure movement – and we’re adding new modes and tools all the time. The latest addition to Capture.U 1.1 offers an Augmented Reality (AR) mode that overlays an avatar or skeleton on real-time video, opening up a new way to review movement.
Download the Capture.U app free from the Apple App store.
Analyze data in the office or back in the lab with the Desktop version. Find it in the download tab of the Technical Information section below.
See your captures on the home page with the click of a button.
We provide a quick start guide in the box for Capture.U when you buy Blue Trident, however, we’re sure you won’t need to use it much, as it’s possible to start capturing activities straight away.
Data overlaid on your video capture.
Take advantage of the latest technology available in the market – Vicon is the first motion capture company to provide access to Augmented Reality for sports in an easy-to-use app. Analyze movement with different modes so you can decide what is right for you.
Vicon is the first motion capture company to provide access to insights from Apple’s Augmented Reality Kit (ARKit 3) to evaluate movement data with our new in-the-field visualization tool.
You can now display 2D and/or 3D visualizations of your athlete’s movements, either overlaid or offset on real-time video for immediate, intuitive insights into athlete performance in the field.
Using Apple’s ARKit you can also capture and review data on specific joint angles, measured in degrees, in real-time with video overlay capability. Set an objective benchmark and the app will trigger an audio alert when the threshold is exceeded.WATCH THE FULL VIDEO HERE
There are a range of tailored ways to capture data, so you can gain a deep understanding of movement and review performance as it happens, when you’re track-side. Share insights with your athletes or subjects to help secure buy-in to the training program.
Use this mode to capture information from sports such as long-distance running, outside of Bluetooth range – or for a higher sensor count, to capture larger numbers of athletes, simultaneously. It’s also perfect for sports where you can’t stream data over Bluetooth, such as swimming.View Image

Vicon’s unbeatable combination of inertial sensing and optical motion capture is ideally suited to sports. Our customers are using Vicon for applications of all kinds – we’ve captured everything from football to swimming, tennis to golf, from athletics to basketball, as well as baseball, cricket, long jump, and weightlifting. You name it; we’ve done it.
We offer the most advanced, customisable, end-to-end mocap solution, covering the entire pipeline – without relying on third party software – while also providing true flexibility through integration plugins for other platforms.
“Many movements made at high speed or involving the highest peak forces, such as changes of direction, sudden decelerations, landing and even sprinting, can lead to sensor clipping and loss of data. Having high g capability with the new sensor allows us to quantify and thereby gain a better understanding of these movements, improving insight into the preparation required for our athletes.”
High Performance Manager, Cronulla Sharks
“We are investigating the suitability of Vicon’s next generation sensors for a range of sports applications from cricket illegal action detection to injury prevention in junior cricket fast bowlers, specifically for monitoring shoulder, trunk and pelvis rotations. We are also evaluating how sports like AFL and soccer might adopt and use this higher specification sensor.”

“I believe that real time feedback must become the new normal as human sensor technology continues to evolve. Being able to understand performance as it happens, and subsequently make changes throughout a session if required, significantly upgrades our ability to care for our athletes.”
High Performance Manager, Cronulla Sharks
“Vicon’s new technology is very exciting, especially the integration of video with the live IMU data feed. This is a game changer for those working with athletes in the field. We want the numbers but for the athlete and coach the vision is everything.”

Please do note:
1. Open the Network and Sharing Center and navigate to Change Adapter Settings. Vicon Vantage/Vero cameras are designated to one port. For each Vue (or Bonita Video) camera connected, there will be additional network port used.
2. Right click on the proper port and go into the Properties. The Local Area Connection Properties window will open. Make sure only Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) is selected.
3. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) from the list and select Properties to assign the proper IP address.
a .Vantage/Vero cameras will have the following IP Address: 192.168.10.1 and Subnet Mask of: 255.255.255.0
b. The first VUE camera will have the following IP Address: 192.168.10.2 and Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0
c. Any additional VUE cameras the last IP value is incrementally increased by one. For example, the second VUE camera will be 192.168.10.3.
Select OK to close out of the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties. And OK again to close out of the Local Area Connection Properties. This will make sure all changes have been saved.
4. Feel free to rename the network port so it is easily identifiable. Such as ViconMX, VUE1 or VUE2
