At SIGGRAPH 2019, Vicon demonstrated the effortless power and accessibility of our Shōgun VFX software platform, including the upcoming release of Shōgun 1.3. At booth #741, we invited show attendees to direct their own full performance virtual production shoot, live in real-time, all within Epic’s Unreal Engine. Participants directed our two actors as Unreal characters Feng-Mao and The Countess, with a selection of Unreal scenes and virtual production tools to customize the performance capture.

Using high-quality assets that are readily available in Epic’s Marketplace, Vicon is able to deliver final, fully rendered cinematics in real-time, including face and high-fidelity finger animation. A process that normally takes days or weeks with other mocap systems can now be done instantaneously!

VFX Product Manager, Tim Doubleday, and our two performance capture actors Gina and Victor demonstrated some of the new features in Shōgun 1.3 in our daily live presentations at the booth:
